ABOUT ME
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing psychotherapy and coaching services. I specialize in adult, adolescent and family counseling, employing strategies working with the parents, the adolescent, and the family as a unit.
EXPERIENCE
I have over 25 years experience working in a variety of clinical settings. I maintained a private practice first in Los Angeles, later in New York City, and now in San Diego. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as a consultant to corporations on Wall Street and as the director of residential programs for both adults and adolescents. Most recently, I worked for Johnson and Johnson as an on site EAP consultant.
I received my education and training first as an undergraduate at UC Santa Barbara, majoring in experimental psychology, went on to receive my Masters degree from UCLA in clinical social work and completed my post grad doctoral course work at NYU in clinical social work. I completed my graduate training in the Outpatient Psychiatry Division of Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles.
MY FOCUS
In my work with adults, I use a solution focused approach as well as psychodynamic modalities. Addressing the challenges faced by today’s teenagers requires careful attention to the perspectives of the adolescent, each parent, and others in the family. I have chosen to focus my work with adolescents on supporting constructive changes in family dynamics. I work with the parents to define and prioritize the tasks necessary to promote a stabilized and harmonious home environment. I work with the adolescent to identify their pressure points and primary issues. Then I provide counseling and coaching services to define good parenting, to help implement parameters necessary for healthy relationships, and to provide support in the face of ever changing family dynamics.
